Swish and Swoosh #1: Nike Football Kits

  Since mahilig naman ako sa magbasa ng sports article at mga kung ano ano pang related sa sports, gawa na rin akong bagong segment sa blog ko. Swish and Swoosh, kasi Swish galing kay Dirk(@swish41 sa twitter follow niyo) at swoosh dahil sa Nike. So ito yung una kong post, matagal ko na to nabalitaan na magkakaroon nga daw ng bagong football kits ang Nike na "recycled" kasi bawat isang jersey ay gumamit sila ng used seven plastic bottles. Isang napakagandang idea nito especially sa mga sports na lagi gumagamit ng mga plastic bottles  dahil pinaglalagyan ng water at galing na rin sa mga fans na nanunuod ng game. Imbes na makadagdag sa pollution, pinagkakitaan pa ng Nike ang waste ng iba. Kudos to Nike!

Made with at least 96% recycled polyester, each jersey is made using an average of 7 plastic bottles, and each short is made using an average of 6 plastic bottles—adding up to 13 plastic bottles per kit. This makes the 2012 National Team Kit our most environmentally-friendly ever. 
Reclaimed, discarded plastic bottles are melted down to produce new yarn, which is converted into fabric. This recycling process saves raw materials and reduces energy consumption by an estimated 30% compared to manufacturing virgin polyester. Since 2010, Nike Football has used an estimated 115 million recycled plastic bottles to create its high performance kits. Lined up end to end, that's enough bottles to stretch halfway around the world.
